Lot 2728

Great Britain. Crown, 1831. S. 3833; ESC-271; KM-715. William IV. Plain edge. Bare head of King facing right, W.W. incuse on truncation, GULIELMUS IIII D:G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D: toothed border both sides. Reverse: Crowned shield of Hannover within quartered shield of arms within Order of the Garter, all upon a crowned ermine mantle, seven strings to Irish harp, ANNO 1831 below. Extremely rare and one of the most sought after coins in the British series. This specimen of the famous 1831 Crown is remarkably free from edge nicks and knocks and the minor surface abrasions which tend to plague this rarity. A superb specimen with a light tone, and a razor sharp strike, it would be a handsome centerpiece in any good British Crown collection. PCGS graded Proof 63 Cameo.
Estimated Value $14,000 - 17,000.

Realized $14,375
