1880-CC Reverse of 1878. GSA. NGC graded MS-65. Frosty and untoned. In the black GSA holder. The original mintage figure for this issue is 591,000 pieces. 96,000 examples of this delivery, however, were found to be of insufficient silver fineness by the February 1881 session of the annual Assay Commission. Those coins were subsequently melted, leaving a net mintage of 495,000 pieces.
