Lot 256

1794 S-47 R4 F12+. Sharpness VF20 but lightly burnished and retoned glossy steel and medium chocolate brown. No roughness or verdigris and only a few contact marks. The notable ones are a rim bruise under the 9, a tiny rim bruise left of the lowest curl, and a nick just inside the dentil tips left of the lowest curl. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I. There are light die clashmarks on the obverse but no die cracks on the reverse. The date and legends are all strong. Looks nicer than it may sound.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
Ex Fred H. Borcherdt.
