Large Bronze ("One Half") dated year 4 (69/70 C.E.). . Hen-668. . Mesh1 161. Palm tree with seven branches and two bunches of dates flanked by two baskets. Reverse: Two lulavs with etrog between. Repatinated; Choice Very Fine.
The largest bronze of the "emergency" coinage, this is certainly one of the most beautifully composed of all Jewish coins. Two of the three types inscribe what we believe to be the denomination as "half" and "quarter", referring to the shekel.
