Lot 240

1851 N-8 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous light olive brown and steel. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is excellent. The only marks are a dozen tiny specks of golden tan toning scattered over both sides, the largest one at the lower point of star 9. M-LDS, die state a late or b early. The dull die line over the M in AMERICA is faint but visible and the always-present lump on the throat is obvious. Noyes photo #30263. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 2 finer, 1 in 65, 1 in 65+ for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $300-UP

Ex March Wells 6/1991-J. R. Grellman Collection 2/1/2012-Fred Iskra Collection (includes the Grellman collection envelope).

Realized $646
