Lot 219
1831 N-9 R2 Large Letters PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Attractive lustrous frosty light to medium steel brown. The only mark a light scuff in the field between star 11 and the hair bun. Nicely struck EDS+. In addition to the earlier cracks a new die crack extends from the left point of star 5 to the dentils at that star. The obverse fields are hard and slightly reflective from a fresh die polishing that left fine nearly vertical die lapping lines in the field before the portrait and removed the arcing die line right of the date. The earlier die crack through the top of the date and stars 1-7 and 9-13 is clear. The weaker die crack down from the lower point of star 5 reaches into the field extending nearly to star 4. Called MS60 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #32205. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Dan Holmes provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36982. Pop 3; 2 graded higher at PCGS for the variety, 1 in 64 BN, 1 in 64+ RB.
