Lot 216

1831 N-7 R1 Large Letters PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with attractive light bluish steel overtones in protected areas. Satiny mint frost covers all but the highpoints and this cent has excellent eye appeal. Looks mint state but there is a hint of rub on the highest points of the devices. Essentially flawless; a tiny planchet flake on a dentil above star 12 and a small puff of reddish steel toning at the leaf tip under the first A in AMERICA may help identify this cent. E-MDS with microscopic radial die flowlines from the dentil tips on the obverse and no crumbling on the R in AMERICA. Our grade is AU55. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 8 finer: 3 in 63, 3 in 64, 2 in 65. PCGS #36976. Estimated Value $450 - UP
Ex Don Valenziano 2/2/1996-Even L. Kopald-Chris McCawley 8/12/2006-Chuck Hall Collection (includes the Kopald collection envelope).
