Lot 21

1817 N-15 R4 PCGS graded AU58+, CAC Approved. Beautiful glossy chocolate brown and steel with traces of mellowed mint red showing on the obverse and 10% of the reverse showing mint color. Smooth and essentially flawless offering outstanding eye appeal. Just a touch of friction on the highest points from mint state. Finding identifiable marks presents a challenge; a line of four microscopic ticks between star 5 and the brow will have to suffice, but you will need a glass to see them. E-MDS with clashmarks showing on the obverse and vertical die lines up from the O in ONE and E in CENT. Graded AU55 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #22346. Bland says AU55 as well but tied for CC#2 in his census. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 3 finer, 1 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 64 for the variety. PCGS #36592. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
