Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.11 g) probably minted under Philip III, c. 323-315 BC. Head right of young Herakles wearing lion's skin. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, rudder. Price P129b (these dies); M. P80; SNG Oxford 3203. Nearly Extremely Fine.

The reverse inscription in two closely spaced lines behind Zeus is most unusual and makes this variety highly desirable.
