1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Noe-29 Rarity-3 PCGS graded VF35. A Small Planchet type. Very attractive glossy medium grayish steel with lighter silvery steel toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth and nearly flawless. The only notable mark is a tiny pinprick just left of the date. The date and tree are strong and the legends are complete, although a few letters on the reverse (date side) are tight to the edge of the planchet. A nice mid-grade example of this classic Early American coinage. The attribution, Heard provenance, and weight of 70.2 grains are noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook."
