Lot 172

1848 N-40 R3 Repunched 18 PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Very attractive frosty light steel brown with peeps of faded mint red in protected areas, mostly on the obverse. The only marks are a couple small nicks well hidden in the hair on top of the inner hair bun. Otherwise this cent is choice. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint luster and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. LDS, die state c, with a cud break under the 48 extending up to the dentil roots under the 4, and the cud break is clear. The repunching on the 18 remains clear as well. Our grade is MS60+, CC#6 overall but second finest of the rare terminal die state in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $750-UP
