Lot 171

1848 N-39 R5 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Attractive frosty light to medium chocolate brown and steel. Satiny luster covers the protected areas on both sides. The only defects are some light marks on the obverse, including a horizontal nick in the field close under the chin and a diagonal one on the cheek right of the nostril. E-MDS, die state a. Fine die polishing lines show at the dentils over UNIT, but they are faint. This cent has great eye appeal, especially the reverse. Our grade is EF45, CC#3 for this tough variety in the Grellman census. And it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 64 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $750-UP
