Lot 1696

1855 $1 Gold Indian. NGC graded MS-61 PQ. Luxuriant pale-gold color is seen over each side with light accents of frost around the main devices. A tiny mark below the lowest feather. This date is easier said than done to find fully struck. The centers lack detail to the date and wreath ribbon from a somewhat uneven strike but the chief design elements such as the feathered headdress and hair above Liberty's brow are outstanding for 1855 Type 2. Scarce and very appealing.
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,100.
The Greenhill Collection.

Realized $2,185
