Lot 158

1794 S-46 R3 PCGS graded VF25. Slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel with a lighter shade of chocolate and steel brown toning on the highpoints. The planchet is covered with uniform very fine roughness that is not visible to the unaided eye; hence the nice grade assigned by PCGS. No verdigris or notable contact marks. Nicely struck LDS, Breen state V. The die cracks on the obverse are strong and a small internal cud break connects the top of the 4 to the truncation above. Graded VF25 net F12 by Noyes, his photo #26796. Our grade is VF20 sharpness net F12. A decent example of this scarce die state. The attribution and Trollan provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 7 finer for the variety. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
