Revolutionary War ALS From Secretary of the War Board to N.J. Governor William Livingston Mentioning General Washington. Autograph letter signed "P. Scull" as Secretary of the Board of War and Ordnance, 2 pp, folio, on laid, watermarked paper, War Office, Dec. 2, 1778. To Governor Livingston of New Jersey regarding coats, vests and breeches not received by the New Jersey troops. Scull writes that clothing for the entire Army was sent to Springfield, Massachusetts and clothing could have been drawn from there. "His Excellency General Washington has inform'd the Board that he will give directions about the delivery of Cloathing; and if the commanding officer in Jersey will make out the necessary returns, there is no doubt but they will be complied with on application to Head Quarters." Toned, else fine. With separate address leaf marked "On publick Service." Estimate Value $400 - UP
