1868 Pattern Ten Cents. Copper, plain edge. Judd-648. Pollock-721. PCGS graded Proof 63 Red & Brown. Die of the design of a large cent 1853 to 1857 with the head of Liberty surrounded by stars, date below. The reverse is a continuous wreath with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding and TEN / CENTS at the center. Nicely toned with some deeper accents on the obverse, and a popular resurrection of the Large Cent last struck in 1857 more than a decade earlier, updated wit a new denomination. To avoid potential confusion, this design was not adopted. Pop 2; 4 finer, 3 in 65, 1 in 66+. (PCGS # 70866) Estimate Value $3,000 - 3,300
