Lot 1505

1838 $5 Classic Head. PCGS graded AU-53. A well struck example with natural rose toning within the devices, As the final year of this brief design (1834-38) mintage fell well behind the first year's coinage, which makes high grade 1838-dated specimens elusive by comparison. Here is an attractive example. We note very sharp design detail on Liberty's hair curls and throughout the eagle and shield (PCGS # 8176) .
Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,700.

Realized $1,438
