Lot 1418

1908-D. No motto. PCGS graded MS-64. Glorious rich coppery gold color throughout, with vibrant luster and amazing surface quality. Examination finds only a couple of minor bagmarks, blending into the devices and keeping the open fields satin smooth and attractive. This is an early date from the Saint-Gaudens series, still lacking the Motto which was added in late 1908. This is a condition rarity this nice, and nearly impossible to find appreciably finer without spending far more than this splendid example will cost. An opportunity for the advanced specialist. Lovely toning and boldly struck. Pop 58; 16 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 8854) Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000
