Lot 1413

1906 $2.50 Liberty. NGC graded MS-68. Well struck and frosty. This is an utterly beautiful Liberty Quarter Eagle irrespective of date. The surfaces are rich in golden color that accents the razor sharp strike. The otherwise golden endowment of mint frost thins to modest brightness in the portrait, a feature that is fully appreciable in the absence of grade-limiting bagmarks. Survivors of this petite Liberty Head style quarter eagle are popular at all levels of preservation. The certified population of this issue dwindles rapidly as one progresses up the Mint State grading scale, with Gems being scarce and Superb Gems rare. Clearly, the present MS68 representative would form the centerpiece of any Liberty Quarter Eagle collection. Pop 3; none finer at NGC (PCGS # 7858) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $15,525
