Lot 134

1834 N-1 R1 Small 8, Large Stars, Medium Letters PCGS graded MS65+ Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to light steel brown, at least half the red remaining, mostly on the obverse. Nearly flawless showing only a few trivial marks. The notable ones are a tiny swipe of darker toning in the field right of star 4 and a pair of thin planchet impurity marks near the dentils under the wreath, as struck. A solid gem cent with outstanding eye appeal. Late die state. The repunching inside the C in AMERICA is faint, nearly gone, and there are tiny rim cud breaks over STA. The reverse is rotated 15 degrees CW. Our grade is MS65. A premium example of the variety, equal to the finest examples known, and it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Naftzger-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 66 for the variety. PCGS #37052. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
