Lot 134

1848 N-2/45 R2 Repunched 18 PCGS graded MS62 Brown, CAC Approved. A frosty mint state cent that was dipped long ago and has retoned golden tan and very light olive. The only marks are a small splash of darker reddish olive brown toning at S-OF and another in the dentils over the U in UNITED. E-MDS, die state b (Reiver's old #45). The repunching on the bottoms of the 18 is strong, crumbling fills the outer left junction of the loops on the second 8, and the points down from the base of the E in ONE are clear. An attractive, frosty cent in spite of the old dipping. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer, 1 in 64, 1 in 67 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $250-UP

Ex Jules Reiver, Heritage 1/2/2007:11006-Fred Iskra Collection (lot ticket included).
