1854 N-5 R3 Repunched 18 NGC graded MS65 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with traces of mint color showing on the obverse and about 25% of the reverse. There is a trace of powdery residue at star 1 and very shallow carbon spots on the rim off the end of the wreath ribbon and in the dentils over the O in OF. Otherwise this cent is choice. Sharply struck EDS but not quite the earliest, die state b, with clear repunching visible on the 1 and 8 in the date and finely doubled die clashmarks at the O in ONE. Our grade is MS62+, CC#5 for the variety in the Grellman census. Estimated Value $450 - UP
