Lot 1334

1807 BD-1, Rarity 3. PCGS graded AU-58. Mostly untoned with bright orange-gold color throughout and most of the luster intact. The surfaces are clean and pleasing, with no heavy bag or handling marks. There is just a hint of adjustment marks on the upper left obverse rim and on the reverse. Remarkably the reverse die was used to strike both 1805 and 1807 quarter eagles and silver dimes, as the designs are the same and the size identical. These quarter eagles are all quite rare as they were struck in tiny numbers, and from that original issue. Here is one of the nicer ones. Only 6,812 struck, with 250 to 350 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 22; 31 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7656) Estimated Value $19,000 - 20,000
