Lot 1293

1879. PCGS graded Proof 65. Lovely blue and lilac toning on both sides. Only 1,100 struck. This is a lovely, nicely reflective Gem Proof, both sides being original with enviable characteristics that should attract many bidders. That said, the strike is also strong, in fact, keen-edged throughout, with clear definition to the high points. Minor silver coin totals fell dramatically in 1879-81, with the Dime-sized coins being notably scarce in Mint condition. This tends to put added collector pressure on the Proofs. Pop 27; 14 in 66; 7 in 67 (PCGS # 4776) .
Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,400.
