Great Britain. Proof Sovereign, 1839. S.3852; Fr-387a. Victoria Young Head. Plain edge. The standard Proof from the coronation sets, with coin-die axis. Much nicer than most seen, although it does have a shallow scratch in the right obverse field. Most of the survivors of this low-mintage issue have been badly mishandled over the past 167 years and show lots of marks and heavy scratches. Not this one! Choice Proof, Deep Cameo contrast of the queen/s portrait with the mirror field, and lovely color. NGC graded Proof 63 Ultra Cameo.
