1876 4-Piece U.S. Centennial Mint Medal Set. This outstanding set of medals including:
1. Julian-CM-11, gilt copper, 57 mm. There were only 2,100 pieces of these gilt copper examples struck, and were originally sold for $3 each.
2. Julian -CM-11, white metal, 57 mm. These white metal large format medals are even rare, with a mintage of merely 583. They were originally sold for $1 each.
3. Julian-CM-10, gilt copper, 38 mm. The proximate mintage for this small format is around 10,500 pieces.
4. Julian-CM-10, silver, 38 mm. Around 10,133 examples struck.
This lot also includes the original box of issue. The white metal and silver medals are beautifully toned with steel blue colors and hints of iridescent hues. The copper medals are still with even cladding. Medals will grade AU to UNC. Very popular medals, rarely offered in such sets. Lot of 4 medals. Estimated Value $1,000-UP
