1859-D $5 Liberty. Medium D. NGC graded MS-60. Untoned and a nice strike. With just 10,366 pieces struck, the 1859-D has the second lowest mintage of any Dahlonega half eagle. This is a scarce coin in all grades and it is usually found in Extremely Fine. There are an estimated 28-32 examples in AU grades, plus another dozen or so in Uncirculated. A few very nice examples are accounted for including a superb PCGS MS64, Ex: Pittman, Melish, and Ten Eyck. Pop 1; 12 finer. (PCGS # 8282) .
