Lot 113

1847 N-23 R5 PCGS graded AU58. Very lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy chocolate brown and steel. Mint frost covers the protected areas and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The only marks, and they are insignificant, are a pair of light nicks in the field right of the main curl and a couple more on the jaw. MDS die state d. The die cracks on the reverse are clear and the section of die between the die cracks at AM has shifted slightly inward. A nice example of a tough die variety. Our grade is AU50 sharpness net EF45 for the light cleaning, tied for CC#11 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 61, 1 in 64 for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $500-UP
