1866 Pattern Five Cents. Copper, plain edge. PCGS graded Proof 64 Brown. CAC. PQ. Well struck. The obverse is the regular dies of the nickel of this year, while the reverse shows the tall 5 at the cener, surrounded by an open open laurel wreath with fruit, tied at the base with a ribbon. Above the wreath is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This is a handsome design and is too bad the reverse pattern was not adopted along with the obverse. Pop 1; 3 finer, 1 in 65 RB, 1 in 66 BN, 1 in 67 BN.
