Lot 1090

1873-CC. Arrows. NGC graded AU-55. This is an incredibily important rarity, and one of the finest seen of this coveted date and mint. Despite what appears to be a rather decent mintage, only 50 or so are known today in all grades. This is one of the finest, and likely within the top 8 or so to survive in all grades. The obverse shows light silver gray huges with a bold strike throughout. For the reverse the toning is a bit deeper and still attractive. Surface quality is quite high, with minimal signs of handling or circulation from such a brief time in the channels of commerce. For identification there is a trivial diagonal nick which crosses two of the vertical shield lines on the reverse. A coin of formidable rarity and desirability, and destined to be a major highlight of any advanced collection lucky enough to secure it. Well struck with light even toning on both sides. Very rare in high grades. Only 12,462 struck. Pop 1; 1 finer in 65. Value $40,000 - UP
