1868 Cyrus Field Telegraphic Communication Medal. Mint State 63 Brown. Bronze, 104 mm. Engraved by William Barber, only 125 struck in bronze. The obverse features a hand reaching from the clouds, placing a laurel wreath on the head of Cyrus Field, above a scene of ships sailing between partial globes labeled "America" and "Europe".

This is the largest medal in the U.S. Mint series. The original version of this medal was struck in gold and issued to Cyrus Field in 1868 for establishing the Atlantic Telegraph Company and for laying the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean in 1858. Estimated Value $150 - 200
