Lot 787

1787 New Jersey Maris 56-n Rarity-1 F15. Camel Head. Overstruck. Slightly glossy steel and light olive with darker olive toning in protected areas. The surfaces are a bit matte thanks to extremely fine uniform roughness. No verdigris or marks. Struck over a Connecticut copper. Strong undertype from the obverse shows inside the shield and weaker undertype is visible in the field before the horse. Called the "Camel Head" due to the odd shape of the horse's snout. The date and legends are strong. Weight 103.1 grains.
Estimated Value $125 - 200.

Realized $403
