1877-S. PCGS graded MS-60. A nice untoned coin and a solid example of this condition rarity. Only a couple of coins are noted finer in the PCGS Population Report, and any Mint State example of this tough date is a great rarity. Scattered light handling marks are present, to be expected for the grade, but the depth of Liberty's curls and the unbroken luster speak for themselves. If you demand one of the finest around, and a classic condition rarity, then here is one to pursue. Only 26,700 struck of which perhaps 300 survive today in all grades.
