Lot 622

1856 N-8 R4- Upright 5 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to bluish steel brown with most of the coin retaining mint color. Just a few trivial marks from flawless. These include a nick on the truncation over the right edge of the 8, a tiny nick on the rim left of the upper point of star 2, and a subtle wisp of darker toning at TA in STATES. MDS, die state b, with a faint die crack from the dentils to MER. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#5 honors in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 3; 4 finer, 1 in 64+, 3 in 65. Estimate Value $800 - UP
