Lot 603

1853 N-32 R4+ PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with subtle overtones of light bluish steel in protected areas. Essentially flawless except for a spot of extremely fine carbon on the cheek, a light vertical nick left of star 12, and two pinpricks under the second S in STATES. Sharply struck LDS, die state c. Our grade is MS60, CC#3 for this tough die variety (only 3 are known in mint state). The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 4; tied for the finest MSBN examples graded at both services for the variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
