Rare Flower with Six Petals in 100 Million Year Old Burmite Amber. Most amber that is over 90 million years old is cloudy and brittle, but some of the best quality of 100 million year old Burmite from the Hukawng Valley of Burma/Myanmar is both clear and very hard, in fact harder than all younger amber. This rare flower with six petals in Burmite amber is 4mm long in a 10 X 7mm honey colored amber nugget. This is one of the earliest preserved flower fossils as flowers made their first appearance about 130 million years ago in the early Cretaceous. Estimated Value $700 - UP
