Lot 579

1851 N-45 R4 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous light steel brown with subtle hints of light bluish steel overtone. Traces of faded mint red remain visible in protected areas and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. There are a few very faint hairlines in the obverse fields and a small spot of darker reddish brown toning on the tip of the chin, but these defects are trivial. The reverse is choice except for a faint planchet lamination on the rim at NIT, as struck. LDS, die state b. The obverse die cracks are clear, including the final one from under star 4 through the coronet to star 8. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; tied for the finest MSRB examples graded at both services for the variety. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
