1794 S-62 R4+ PCGS graded XF45+, CAC Approved. Choice glossy medium brown and light chocolate with a few faint puffs of medium chocolate brown toning in the obverse fields. The surfaces are smooth and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. The only notable mark is a light diagonal nick in the field off the middle curls. The reverse is flawless. LDS, Breen state II, with a large cud break left of the curls. The cud is complete, not retained as seen on some examples of the variety. This is the plate coin for Dr. Sheldon's Early American Cents and Penny Whimsy, and both sides are plated in the 2005 Provenance Gallery of the Cents of 1794 by Jon A. Boka. Graded VF35 net VF30 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #31982. Bland says VF30 and tied for CC#4 as well. Our grade is VF30+ and Choice, very close to VF35.
