The Waterloo Medal by Benedetto Pistrucci Commemorating the Allied Victory over Napoleon, Waterloo, June 18, 1815, Scarce. Scarce medal # 2995 of only 5000 minted in solid sterling silver. The medal is commemorating the Allied victory over Napoleon Waterloo, June 18, 1815. The obverse shows the busts of Prince Regent George IV, Francis II of Austria, Alexander I of Russia and Frederick William II of Prussia. The reverse Reverse: Represents the mythical "Battle of the Giants," where the giants are said to have unsuccessfully challenged the Olympian gods. In this composition, Pistrucci depicted 19 figures struck down by the thunderbolts of Jupiter – 19 for each year of the Napoleonic Wars.
