Lot 44

1794 S-58 R3 PCGS graded AU53. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light olive. A choice cent, smooth and nearly void of marks. The only notable defect is a tiny planchet fissure on the rim over the right side of the Y in LIBERTY (as struck). Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state II late. A fine die crack meanders from the dentils above the T in UNITED through NIT but does not extend to the adjacent U. Graded VF35 net VF30 and tied for CC#10 in the Noyes census, his photo #25027. Bland says VF30 and tied for CC#10 in his census. Our grade is VF30 Choice. A nice cent that comes with an equally nice provenance. The attribution and Rasmussen provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer: 1 in 58+, 1 in 62. PCGS #35636. Estimated Value $4,500 - UP
