Vatican. Zecchino, 1758. Fr-237; CNI XVII pl.XXI,15; Berman-2890; KM-984. 3.43 grams. 21.66 mm. Clement XIII (Carlo Rezzonico), 1758-1769. Obv: Papal arms. Leg: CLEMENS.XIII - PONT.M.AN.I. Reverse: Metaphor church facing. Leg: SVPRA.FIRMAM PE TRAM 1758. Choice example. NGC graded MS-65.

The conflict betwwen honesty and devoutness versus political acumen was apparent during the time of Clement. Honest to a fault, he too easily believed in the goodness of others, especially his relatives. He appointed many who were less than competent. Also extremely modest, he had fig leaves placed on many of the Roman statues in the Vatican's possession.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,200.

Realized $4,140
