Lot 358

1854 N-27 R3- PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive uniform frosty medium steel brown. The surfaces are satiny and lustrous, and the eye appeal is quite nice. The only marks are a few very light ticks on the jaw and throat and another in the field off the bottom of the main curl. MDS, die state c early, with the reverse rotated 75-80 degrees CW from the normal head-to-foot die orientation. The small rectangular lump on the bust above the 8 (appears to be from the base of a misplaced 1) is weak but still visible. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer for the variety at PCGS. Estimated Value $600-UP

Ex Bowers & Merena 6/10/1991:734-J. R. Grellman Collection 2/1/2012-Fred Iskra Collection (includes the Grellman collection envelope and Bowers lot ticket).
