Juan Calogero. Loreal. (1922-2011) Italian born but moved to Paris after WWII, Calogero studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and is known for his surreal, almost dreamlike works in his landscapes, playful fairs and performers. Here a circus beauty is set against a fanciful themed background with a headdress of flowers and bright costume. This is very typical of his work, colorful and with charm to spare. Oil on canvas, 14½ x 11½" and spectacularly framed in an elegant antiqued gold frame (some chips competently touched up) that is a perfect complement to the art, measuring 21 x 18".
