Marie Agnes Hyde (2) Two Complimenting Works. "Iroquois Planting" + "Iroquois Harvest" (1936). (1882-1978) 20th Century American artist who studied art in New York before moving West to California, as well as Ohio, and beginning to paint and sculpt. Her works are on permanent display in the New Mexico Museum of History, the LA Museum of Art and History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is in Women Artists of the American West. Here are a pair of paintings from 1936, showing Iroquois Indians planting and harvesting their bounty. These two works were on exhibit for some time at the Autry Museum of the American West and are quite striking in their idyllic view of life along the St. Lawrence River in the northeastern United States. Oil on board, both 16 x 20" and simply framed in wood to 18 x 22". Both signed by the artist, one dated 1936. Excellent condition. Estimated Value $700 - UP
