1812 S-288 R2 Large Date. PCGS graded MS-62 Brown. Frosty golden tan with darker steel brown and chocolate toning on the devices. Looks mint state but there are faint diagonal hairlines on the lower part of the obverse, none visible without a strong glass. Otherwise the only marks are a couple faint diagonal ticks on the bust tip and a spot of darker chocolate toning on the center dot above EN in CENT. MDS, Breen state II, with fine radial die flowlines in the fields and dull die clashmarks inside the wreath. Graded AU55 net EF45 by Noyes, his photo #61340. Our grade is net AU50. The attribution and Nancy and Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 4 finer: 3 in 63, 1 in 66. (PCGS # 36505) Value $6,500 - UP
