Rita Hayworth under the direction of her estranged husband, Orson Welles, together created one of the most intriguing film noirs that has grown in stature over the years, with its set design and cinematography of particular note. To the shock of the movie going public, Hayworth dramatically cut her hair and dyed it platinum for the role which proved a sensation.
