Lot 2267

1838 N-4 R2. MS-63. Lustrous medium steel brown with underlying faded mint color showing through in protected areas. The surfaces are satiny and quite attractive. The only marks are a faint scuff that barely breaks the frosty luster in the field right of star 4 and another under the right side of the N in CENT. M-LDS with a strong bisecting die crack from the dentils over star 9 to the dentils under the first 8 in the date and a linear cud break along the crack in the curls over the second 8. In addition, there is a clear rim cud break from star 12 extending down nearly to star 13. A beautiful example of a neat die state.
Estimated Value $750 - 1,250.
