1876 Dollar Octagonal. Liberty Head. Breen and Gillio-1117. High Rarity 7. PCGS graded MS-62. Lovely shades of green golden toning over reflective fields. This coin is the cover coin on the PCGS CoinFacts web page for BG-1117. Only 4 to 5 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS CoinFacts. This one shows a strong date, two die cracks on the upper reverse, and the ever-present softness in the strike. A rarity in any grade, this one is apparently the best of those known with an illustrious pedigree to the Roe Collection and having been off the market since 2003. Pop 1; 2 finer in 63.
