Ben-Gurion, David -- 1971 Autograph Letter Signed (1886-1973) A founder and first Prime Minister of Israel. Autograph letter signed "D. Ben-Gurion," one page, ruled paper, 8½ x 5", Ideh-Boker, July 21, 1971. To David Marcus, a dentist in Beverly Hills, California. In part: "I am afraid you exaggerate my value. I came to Israel 65 years ago - to work on the land, and I have done this 5 years, then my colleagues compelled me to become a co-editor of a weekly labor paper in Hebrew, and later to become secretary of the movement and so on. I had to do only my duty. I believe everybody has to do it. Yours / D. Ben-Gurion." Fine condition. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, Dr. Marcus' letter to Ben-Gurion, and a copy of the August 16, 1948 issue of TIME magazine, featuring Ben-Gurion on the cover.
