1885. PCGS graded Proof 66 Deep Cameo. CAC. PQ. Lovely rich golden toning. What stands out here at first glance is the amazing contrast between the deep mirror fields and the frosted devices. Further examination confirms how technically fantastic this coin is with virtually no signs of handling or marks. The surfaces are amazing to behold. Despite a rather generous mintage in Proof, there or only a dozen or two that likely qualify with the Deep Cameo designation, as the dies quickly wore away this depth of polish and could only create a few of these Deep Cameo gold dollars.
